Melissa S. Wood, O.D.
Dr. Melissa Wood has been practicing in York County since 2005 and joined Palmetto Eye in 2014. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Presbyterian College and her Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Wood is also past president of the SC Optometric Physicians Association. In 2008, she received the SC Young Optometrist of the Year Award.
Dr. Wood is a member of the American Optometric Association and the local Catawba Optometric Society. She is also an InfantSEE provider--a public health program providing professional eye care for infants, and volunteers for Special Olympics vision screenings.
In addition to prescribing glasses and contact lenses, Dr. Wood evaluates and treats eye diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, lazy eye, dry eye, eye allergies, and headaches.
As an eye doctor, she also specializes in contact lens fittings for astigmatism, presbyopia, and keratoconus, as well as pediatric eye examinations for preschool and toddlers.
Dr. Wood and her husband David reside in Fort Mill. She enjoys mountain biking, traveling and has two "kids" with fur and tails.
